Christopher Brown (Chris TB) was born in 1966 in Pittsburgh, PA. The youngest of five, he was the musician in the family from the start, first at the piano and then picking up drums. By middle school, Chris was performing in school bands, orchestras, and rock bands with his friends.
In high school, he gravitated toward classical percussion, studying under Gerald Unger, percussionist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He continued those studies at Duquesne University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1989.
After graduate studies at NYU, Chris returned to Pittsburgh in 1991 to join the River City Brass Band, where he performed and toured until 1996.
Since 1997, Chris has spent most of his time teaching middle school bands across Massachusetts, Florida, and New Hampshire, while raising his three children. In recent years he has reconnected with his creative side and taken up a daily meditation practice, both of which feed directly into his music.
His debut full-length album, Left Impressions, is released by Wayfarer Music Group on April 10, 2026.
